Event Description:

Target Learners: All Pima Supervisory Level Employee's and Record Liaison's

Description:
Are you familiar with Pima Community College's retention policy? Do you know what records you should keep, and for how long? And what about disposing of sensitive documents? Following your company's record retention policy supports the organization's internal documentation and accounting systems and addresses compliance requirements in state and federal law. This course will discuss how to use the policy to identify which records must be retained, the different formats in which records may be stored, and common techniques for record disposal.

This training is required for all supervisory and administrative level staff, and Record Liaisons. It is meant to provide innovative, comprehensive, and cost-effective records management instruction to our College leadership. The training will cover records basics, procedures for managing records at Pima Community College and where to find resources.

Learning Objectives:

Recognize the appropriate method of disposal or destruction for a printed or electronic record

Recognize examples demonstrating when legal considerations exist for having a record retention policy

Recognize the administrative benefits of having a record retention policy

Identify issues to be addressed when storing and deleting electronic records

Save time and money

Comply with State and Federal Laws

Contribute to Pima History

Do your job more effectively
